Fashion week has just left London and kicked off in Milan – but there’s always a lot of buzz about accessories trends, starting with New York. Last year’s color block shoes have lead way to the chunkier ankle strap semi-flat, which showed up in black, white or orange on lots of runways. No gladiator styles (we’ve been stuck in ancient Rome for a lot of seasons now) or multiple straps – just one biggie at the angle. Well, talk about ankle detail: Burberry put wood bead necklaces around the ankles of their resort 2012 shoes – and they’re such a hit (Leighton Meister wore them this week), that Burberry put them in their spring 2012 show this week as well. Shoe beads? Couldn’t we make little beaded bracelets to put on shoes ourselves? Get started before next summer and you’ll have a jump on it.
